Dr. Houghton received his Postgraduate education from the University of California with a focus on an HIV specific residency. His training at the University of California includes a residency in Family Medicine and a fellowship in preventive Cardiology as well.

As an HIV specialist Doctor Houghton is certified with the American Academy of HIV medicine, certified in aviation medicine and the member of the board of medical quality assurance.
